The third day of our quest featured a lot of driving in urban traffic. We left the motel in Wilmington, DL, crossed the Delaware river, and turned north on the New Jersey Turnpike finding a New Jersey cache during a fuel stop. We joined the Garden State Parkway to the NJ/NY border.
After waiting out a traffic back-up shortly after entering New York, we continued on eastward in Connecticut paralleling Long Island Sound. There was little opportunity for sight-seeing until we were into the state but we made a few stops around Old Saybrook and also found a cache in that area. (photos to be posted later.)
We continued on into Rhode Island and, after a few false starts including a bee sting at an attempted guard rail cache, we finally grabbed our first Rhode Island cache. We continued on into the center of downtown Providence, RI for a look at the interesting spots there.
Tiring of all the traffic and the interstate highways, we left Providence and traveled back roads only to our destination for the night, Auburn MA, seeing lots of New England scenery along the way.
