Day 4 - Auburn to Bar Harbor

We start the day in Auburn, Mass away from the congestion around NYC and have a full day planned. We start eastward on I-90 and soon turn north on I-91 and enter Vermont. A short distance into Vermont, we spot an unmarked truck parking area on the side of the interstate. We parked and found a trail into the bordering woods and after a short hunt, find a well hidden ammo box - our only cache find in Vermont.

Because we met our objective of finding a Vermont cache so quickly, we left Vermont at Brattleboro and drove cross country through the entire state of New Hampshire using secondary roads. That took us through Concord, NH and then down to Portsmouth, Maine. We only found one cache in New Hampshire - a micro in a parking lot.

After traveling the Maine Turnpike from Portsmouth to Portland, we took to the secondary roads again for the remainder of the day. By now we were feeling like we had driven halfway around the world so we made a stop at the DeLorme map store north of Portland. Here we had an opportunity to walk around the world.

This huge globe actually revolves and rotates. Nearby, Hannah found a bear, "Bears in the Bushes" (GC17MZ7).

Just a bit more up the road, we sighted another over sized object. This is "B.F.I." (GCXH5M) and the cache container is an ammo can, the third one we found today.

We continued on up the coast, finally reaching our motel for the night in Bar Harbor, ME. Tomorrow we get up early to put the car in line for us to leave for Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on the Cat, a high-speed catamaran ferry that departs from Bar Harbor.

Today's Progress - 422 miles

Cumulative Distance Traveled - 1810 miles

Tonight's longitude - W068 12.771
